Mui Ne Passion: Malibu Kite Wave Contest 2020

The fourth installment of Source Kiteboarding's annual Kite Wave Contest is set to conquer the coastline once again, as it returns to the shores of Mui Ne - the kite surfing capital of Asia - on the 17th, 18th, 19th January. Whether you are competing or simply spectating, this year's event is shaping up to be one of the most exciting contests yet!

Launched in 2016, this unique beach event will be accessible via Nam Chau Boutique Resort, a proud sponsor of the competition. The seafront resort welcomes all those attending the event, thrilled to be involved with such a world-class spectacle. Proceedings are due to kick off at 5pm on Friday 17th January, with competitors registration followed by live music, DJ and drinks hosted by local beachside bar, Modjo.

The stakes are high for the weekend, with huge prizes up for grabs as over 50 local and international competitors, both men and women, take to the waves. The judging panel, made up of three esteemed and experienced kitesurfers from Vietnam, France and Australia, possess over 40 years of kite experience between them. Contestants competing in strapless freestyle, wave riding and twin tip freestyle and Big Air events are in with the chance to win prizes including brand new carve kites and bars, as well as Quicksilver and Roxy gift vouchers.

The official competition will begin Saturday morning until sunset, resuming on Sunday morning. Over the course of the weekend, attendees can expect an array of food stalls, beach games, live music, kite equipment demonstrations and professional rider demonstrations during the day. By night, the event will transform into a beach party to rival all others, with DJs and musicians from around the world performing live. Local participating venues include Modjo Restaurant, Mai's Paradise and Dragon Beach.

The closing event is to be held at Cargo Remote, where podium prize giving will be awarded to contenders, as well as exciting giveaways for spectators.
